I'm sorry I'm late to the party on this!

You are making me so jealous Dave!! Old SXS on pheasants on public land. I miss it!! All you need to make it perfect is a good dog to shoot over.

Thanks for sharing!

My buddy's German Wirehair was quite helpful.  For a rescue he didn't do bad.  Especially first morning when there snow and the birds were holding TIGHT.

Hi, I'm envious. There hasn't been pheasants in my area for years. Probability due to the large coyote and fox population here. However, we do have turkeys, lots of turkeys. One day before opening season on turkey, we had six turkeys walk through our back yard. My trigger finger was just twitching, twitching, and twitching.

Wild turkey makes for great eating. The legs aren't good for much, but the white meat is so good, milder and much better tasting than farm raised turkey.  )l_

Regards,
Richard

Birds were sitting so tight the first day that Finn (the dog) actually caught a hen.

Local gun club put on a veterans hunt.  Went even older school with my 14 gauge back-action percussion double.
