Barrel turning tools
« on: December 23, 2022, 08:43:25 AM »
Does anybody have the proper tooling to tighten/loosen the barrel from the frame of a SAA?
I have a clone that shoots ~6 inches left at 50 yards.  My intent is to put an index mark on  the frame and barrel under the ejector rod, do the math, and turn the barrel in the correct amount.
Having read up on in Kuhnhausen I would like to use the proper tools to avoid marring the barrel (bad) or wrecking the frame (worse).

Anybody have such tooling?  I would be happy to compensate you for their use.

Merry Christmas!

Just thinking aloud here;
Fixed blade sight?
Ejector rod has its own hole in the frame, but a guide along the barrel?
Will the the rod match the hole, if the barrel is turned?
The blade sight will be leaning out the left of vertical (giving a tricky sighting picture)? Means that the barrel must be tightened (If the thread is CW), might be hard, might have to put a file to the frame.
I'd go for a dove tail front sight (sideways adjustable). Much easier.
My tu'pence.

A friend back in the 90's had a S&W with a clocked barrel. It drove me bonkers to shoot it even tho it was a accurate. On my fixed sights I just learn where they shoot.
