When I was a kid, I bought an old Parker 12 Ga SxS with Damascus barrels. It was beautifully engraved with beautiful scrolled hammers. I was advised at that time to shoot only light loads in it because BP being corrosive could have eaten between the layers of bonded steel and you'd never be able to tell until it blew up. If I had that shotgun today, I'd keep it as a collectible and never fire it with any loads at all. If yours has Damascus barrels, maybe you might want to set it aside as an heirloom and enjoy that aspect of it. If it has modern barrels, then low pressure loads like Dave mentioned might be a good idea. If it's at all questionable, it might be best to just keep it unused and play it safe.
