Memorial day
« on: May 27, 2023, 05:55:34 PM »
Anything special going on. We're doing a neighborhood cookout. Prepping ribs/chicken for the smoker. BBQ sauce is simmering on the stove. Have to make salad and peach cobbler tomorrow.

Going to my son's for a cookout Monday. Probably out to the cemetery to visit Dad's grave  :usa-flag-89: and now Mom's as well.

Angling for Siluriformes.
AKA: went catfish in’.  Caught a couple using night crawlers.  Catch and release.  We don’t eat no bottom feeders but real fun to fight ‘em in.  (We give them away sometimes to Mexicans or Chinamen, if there are any handy.)

Good idea, Captain.  We’ll go over to the burying ground on Monday and visit my parents resting place.  My Dad paid in quite heavily during the Pacific War, especially at Okinawa.

Everyone here probably knows this but it was simi-reconstructed former Confederate ladies that got Memorial Day started.  Good job, girls.  Well done.

Yesterday I took advantage of the pre-Memorial Day sale at Lowes and brought back a 6-burner BBQ. Spent a good portion of today assembling it. Then to try it out cooked 8 hot dogs on it. That's almost a whole burner for each one. Made a small pot of chili to put on them, too. Mmmmmm! The chili dogs came out good.

Probably need to do some chicken or something Monday. I have all day tomorrow to decide and prepare.

I saw this a few years ago.  It touched me then…and still does.

Just working my tail off at the smoke shop. Busy weekend in Tombstone for "Wyatt Earp Days". 12 hour days..... wearing me the heck out! Met some great people....sold a few firearms and a ton of cigars.

Hope ya'll are having as much fun as me!

Among other things, I’m thankful for having missed Omaha.

Z - about your visitors.  Remember, if patience were easy it wouldn’t be a virtue. I visualize you as being the apex of hospitality … even with them.

Tookmy two boys and their neices to Silver City ID (Google) today.
Let my 13 year old drive us out, yeah, all 16 miles to the road. I drank and coached...
Now I'm in the ER with my 16 year old daughter who has debilitating chest pains. Half thinking it's psycho somatic, but here I am killing it...
I'm all she has now, Maw is un-alived; but she calls me Kevin, because I'm not bio...
#goodtimes.
