1874 pistol belt
« on: July 12, 2023, 06:12:13 AM »
I had a request for this belt from an old cavalry guy heading to a reunion of his old unit.
He provided the buckle and had me stamp "US CAVALRY" on the back.   He says his buddies will all want one when they see it.
I may have to make one for myself.

That's a beautiful piece, Mike. I like the 'US CAVALRY' on the back. I hope you get a handful more orders for them.

That's a fairly authentic belt and buckle but why would he ruin it by putting US Cavalry on the back? The holes should go almost all the way around.

He just wanted it marked like that and he paid me to do it.
The holes go as far as they can without making holes in the lettering.       He did not care about authentic....   I made the belt as accurate as I could while honoring his wishes.

I understand that. I just don't get it. I've got a similar CS belt.
