Looking for opinions
« on: April 27, 2023, 02:30:59 PM »
I bought this all blue Pietta a few months ago, did an action job on it and added some after market grips. I ' m not sure about it. What do you all think about it?

I like it except I'm not fond of bright white grips even tho I have a set. I've tried everything to age them but nothing worked. The nickel grip frame really sets the blue off.

Looks nice!
Did you replace the bolt with one that didn't have a pre ground "return cut"? I had to as well as open the hand window to allow "normal" engagement with the ratchet. My Pietta in 45C  is a 2020 build.

That's a real beauty! You don't see all blue SAA's too often, and that's a shame. In one of my Colt books, there are several shown that were ordered that way. I personally love the look.

I have to say I like it because I have something similar. I ran across an all blue early 3rd gen Colt SAA a few years ago and wound up installing white polymer(Gripmaker) grips on it. This gun was from an estate sale and I was told it was as new and fired very little then I knew why. The gun had the early 3rd issues, grips didn't fit well(why I replaced them), replaced the bolt and thought I cleaned up the action--until I tried to fire it and the cartridge rims hung up on the loading gate which didn't fit flush with the frame. After numerous attempts to locate the issue, out of frustration I put the gate catch in backwards( a slight bevel on one end) and that cured the problem  :icon_scratch:! Didn't mean to get off track but was that gun ever frustrating and this was my first chance to complain to people who get it.
Only Blackpowder is interesting.
