A new rig to wear to the range
« on: February 01, 2014, 01:08:30 PM »
Here's a rig that would be good for your weekend trips to the range.

It was made by a guy who lives about 25 miles North of me.  I buy some stuff from his leather supply shop.  He is an excellent leathersmith and loves to do some stuff that's a little on the wild side.  He and his wife are also CAS shooters and compete quite alot.

That is great work. Not my style, but great none the less. I just wish I could afford a simple leather contraption ta stick the gun in so I don't Hagar lay in on the ground.

Our BP range does not allow holstered weapons...safety reasons, so they say. :-*

At the BP range I use when not shooting at the ranch if you didn't have a holster you would have to tuck your revolver in your pants or lay it in the dirt.   They have tables for the rifle area but only one for loading on the pistol range.  Not a very upscale place but only costs $20 per year for unlimited shooting.   Only BP front stuffers allowed.

The range I shoot in Kempner allows holster draws, it's a pretty cool place out in the sticks.  The one on Ft. Hood, on the other hand, does not.  That range is best suited for rifle and single shot, IMHOP.  That is some sweet leather work there, I am a little less flamboyant in my gunleather, but I appreciate the exceelent work and detail that went into that rig.  That looks like a good rig for a really bad ass fast draw or SASS fella to wear. :-*

I'm not sure if the rig pictured is a piece commisioned by a customer or if Chris built it for himself.  I believe he put in a leatherwork competition though.  I saw it in his shop.  Don't know if it won an award or not.

It shoulda!  If a fella wears a gunbelt like that to a competition though, that's like saying "hey, I'm the baddest dude here today.  come get some!" :-*

Awesome work; but a bit much for my taste (and pocket book). I'm sure he spent a lot of time on that rig, not only building it, but also the considerable tooling! I only wish I had some of that talent! L@.
