Any 'hawks out there?
« on: December 15, 2013, 08:03:38 PM »
I have thrown a few 'throwing' tomahawks in the past. I now have a hankering to try it out again and maybe buy one. Anyone have a recommendation or two?

I bought a few of them on BUDK for my Dad. I didn't know if he used them yet...I'll ask him soon here.
I do know that some are cheap and will break easy on first hit.
When I said "Cheap" there was no brand name on there.
But, I think there are some GREAT throwing tomahawks out there!  )k*

My English pipe hawk throws pretty good but I don't know where it originated from.

Might try the possibles shop or totw.

Here is my "prettiest" 'hawk; I haven't thrown it yet, and probably never will. I do have an English 'hawk that is a throwin' one, as well as a French one. Those use a little different technique to throw.

Just noticed this little thread and yes, I do happen to have one of these.

It is a cheap one that I scored off of BudK a year or so back, as I recall it was about $12 and I ordered up a spare handle for it as well.  That proved un-needed though, it tracks well and I can stick the blade end just about every time.

Hah! A spare handle is a good thing to have....especially if playing "games" at the 'hawk block.

For those interested in learning the "how to" part of throwing a tomahawk there are a few video presentations on You Tube that will get you started.  This is a pretty good one once you get past all the self promotion part of the presenter.

Just like anything else that you must learn how to do, practice, practice and then practice a little more. *Z$
