Is 1948 modern?

Traded for this last year. My first Colt double-action. My understanding is that before the Python this was Colt's top of the line revolver.

I had a Heavy Barrel Officers Model made in 1935 with original Roper grips but it got stolen. It was the most accurate revolver I've ever owned. Yours is a lot nicer.

This one's a Heavy Barrel. In doing a little research I haven't seen one marked quite like this. Most have the "HEAVY BARREL" line immediately below the OM line, not separated like this.

I haven't seen one like that either. I found a not so good pic of mine. It had King sights front and rear with a ramped front. The ejector rod knob is different too. The grips are period Roper but not original to the gun.
