Nice. I have one in .43 Egyptian that I hope to have shooting in some form, before too long.

I like the idea of buying a new sporter stock, if you can find one. No wood patching to do, and the original stock stays in original condition should you decide to sell it.

I'm having a hard time finding a sporter forend that isn't something like 90%. I can find the military forends. I'll just have to get one of those and cut it down.

I'll order the parts for it at the first of the month. He has a barrel mounted peep that's correct for the gun. <={

Can't wait to see this one come together, Hawg! Only thing I like more than a good roller is a good falling block!

Yeah, me too. I like Sharps best or a High wall. I'm not crazy about Martini actions but I wouldn't turn one down for the right price. I'm like a kid waiting on Christmas. The bad part is he doesn't take credit cards. I have to write out a list of what I want and send a money order. Then I have to wait for him to package the stuff up and send it. I hope he fills orders better than he answers texts. He is talkative on the phone and he gave me a lot of information about the rifle. The amount of knowledge he can recite off the top of his head is amazing. He said it was most likely part of a small contract sent to Mexico. If not Mexico it went to Central America. I'm having a hard time finding a butt stock that's not too high priced. The affordable ones are just marginally better than mine. I found one from a Swedish rifle that's in good shape but it has the cutout for the sling swivel and will probably be gone by the time I get money for it. Fore stocks aren't too bad. I hate to cut up an original stock but they seem to be in plentiful supply. I have plenty of pewter but not quite sure how to go abut molding one that would look good on it.

Unfortunately, the one to help you with that would have been Mazo. I miss that guy terribly.  :-[

I found a forestock that's suitable to make a sporter out of. Overall it's in terrible condition with large cracks, breaks and splinters but the part that I want is pretty good. It has a crack next to the receiver but I think I can fix it. If not I'm not out that much. This thing is so bad it was super cheap. I wouldn't have even bothered to try to sell it. (7+"

I got it yesterday. The crack is not a simple fix. The stock was cut from a piece of knotty wood. The crack is a bark inclusion from one of the knots. The only way I know of to fix it is to hog it out and fill it with epoxy and sawdust. It seems my ability to post new pics is gone. I can't download pics from my phone or camera anymore.

I did get my camera working kinda/sorta. It's not as easy as it used to be but my phone still isn't working. I sent a money order for the parts I need. The guy that has them doesn't do anything online and doesn't take cards. That Swedish butt stock was still available after at least three weeks so I offered a lower price for it and it was accepted and should be here Thursday. 50-70 brass is hard to find and runs about 6.00 apiece when you do find it. 348 brass is unobtanium. I found 32 gauge shotgun brass for 1.44 apiece and .50 Alaskan for 1.00 apiece. I have 100 coming. I don't really need that many but that's how they come. It gives me extras to try to figure out how to cut them down since I don't have a case trimmer. I guess I should get one but they're proud of them. I've been using Lee trimmers for everything I need trimmed but that's not going to work on these. I still have to figure out how to go about forming a mold for the nose cap. I only get one shot at it so it has to be right. I'm not sure what to do about the cleaning rod hole. I thought about getting a piece of dowel that fits and sanding it down to the contour of the stock. That may be what I do. I dunno. Still not certain about this bark inclusion. I could fill it with sawdust and epoxy but the epoxy won't take a stain. I may just leave it and call it character.

Dude on another forum just sold me 32 pieces of new 50-70 brass for 40.00. I really couldn't afford to but I couldn't afford not to either.
