Trying a New Thing
« on: January 22, 2025, 08:39:32 AM »
One of the less pleasing things about shooting BPCR is the task of cleaning the brass after shooting. Wet tumbling with SS pins seems to be the most effective way, but even squeaky-clean brass still has a tarnished look to it and if you want it to really shine, requires a lengthy trip in the vibratory tumbler after processing with some type of polish. I wondered how nickel plated brass would clean up so decided I might try that. Well, problem with that is nickel plated .45-70 has been unobtanium for a number of years now.
Until yesterday...
Midway notified me that it was in stock. 100 new NP cases are on their way. We'll see how it works out when they come in.

I've had problems with nickel plated .38 special cases splitting. I won't reload it anymore.

That's why I only bought a hundred. Trial run, and all. I have some 7mm NP brass and it's held up through several reload cycles. We shall soon see.
