Tucker & Sherrard
« on: May 16, 2014, 10:08:36 AM »
Been looking for one of these for a while now.  Every time one comes up on GB, it ends up going for more than I'm willing to pay.  I may just have to sell something next time one comes up. This one went for $799

I had one on my watch list several years ago.....started out at $299.00 and ended up selling for 9-something. Too rich for my blood!
They are beautiful, though. If I see one I will give you a heads-up.

From time to time I see them around.  Not in as good shape like that one.  Are they significantly different from the 2nd Dragoon?

The most significant difference is there is no cut out on the barrel lug to load the ball in the cylinder.

I too saw this set on GB.  I looked out of curiosity but I am not familiar with them at all.   The GB ad was the first time I recall hearing of a Tucker & Sherrard.   What's the story?  Were there many made and were they actually used during the war or did they come a little late or something like that?

Here's one, compared to a New Service Revolver, which is considered to be a big revolver by some folks.

I finally managed to pick one up recently.  Hate to tell you what I paid for it though.  I might be arrested for stealing it.

Nice find Fingers.   I know more about these now.   I'm surprised you could find one at a good price.   Doesn't look like many come up for sale often.

Person selling had no idea what it was.  Thought it was just a 2nd Model Dragoon and had it listed as such.  There were a few bidders; but no one wanted to bid more than a Uberti 2nd model would fetch.

Its difficult to admit a former blank spot, especially concerning my favorite topic, but I will. I had never heard of a Tucker & Sherrard.  As a real fan of Dragoons from Whitneyville to Third Model it was past high time I learned of this.  Been reading up on these now.  What fun it is to learn something brand new on a long time favorite subject.  Those are beauties!

Great score Fingers.  Congratulations.

Real good links Scooby.

Thanks for this.

Mine appears to have been made by Armi San Marco, revolver only, nothing else came with it & I paid too much.

Who made yours?  I'm not sure who all made these.

Congratulations on your find and glad to  hear you got a good deal.

Enjoy.

You planning on shooting that, Fingers? Or just handling?

RayB.  Made by Uberti.  SN is T64,so it was one of the 400 cased sets made.

My Good Captain, as to the query about shooting it ................. of course .............................NOT
