I found this at a gun show yesterday. 1872 Open Top , .38 special, by Uberti.

I like the Open Top models, yours looks nice.  Let us know how it shoots for you.

Are you going to use black or smokeless powder in it?

While I certainly understand your comment, shooting blackpowder cartridges is a heck of a lot of FUN!  And clean up is not as hard as many would have you believe.  Either way, enjoy it!

I have a set of 1860 Pietas that I converted to cartridge. I'm having a blast using Cowboy45 brass with Blackhorn 209 powder. All the flash, smoke and sparks with none of the cleanup issues......

Good find Bearcat.  You really oughtta shoot BPC in it though.  It'll be more fun, and it'll actualy be easier to clean than smokeless.

Please, if you shoot smokeless in that gun, use a mild load! Something like 5744 in a Cowboy Action loading.

+1 for Trail Boss I like it because a little bit really fills the case making it good for the mark one eyeball check, be hard to double charge a case and not see it.

My buddy loads Trail Boss and says it's pretty much impossible to double charge a case.

There's a gun show 20 miles away this coming weekend....might have to check it out. Although lately everything seems to be way overpriced.
