New Pistols
« on: December 17, 2014, 12:48:30 PM »
I recently joined a Cowboy reenactment group.  They use .45 Colt blanks for their performances; unfortunately, I didn't own any .45 Colt revolvers to use.  Well, that has changed.  I got a really good deal on a pair of 3rd Gen Colt's in .45 Colt with 5 1/2 inch barrels.

The leather I've had for a few years; used it with a pair of Ubertis up till now.

They came with action jobs on them already.  They almost cock themselves & have about a 1 lb trigger pull with no creep.  I've shot them in one CAS match so far & they definitely helped my times.

As always, nice looking pair.  The Artillery length is my favorite.

Hi Fingers, there's no finer revolver than the revolver that has a pony on the grip. This is mine with extra .45 Colt and .45 ACP cylinders:

So what cylinder is in the revolver?  Or do you have two cylinders for the long Colt round.

Hi StrawHat, I have two cylinders for the .45 Colt. My Colt is one of the first third generation 1873 that had the pressed in cylinder base pin bushing. The one .45 Colt cylinder I fitted has the removable base pin bushing. The .45 ACP cylinder I fitted also has the removable base pin bushing.

Regards,
Richard

Simply outstanding Fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Say, Is that a Dyer cartridge pouch I see resting on that rig?

Good eye.  Much easier to retrieve cartridges out of than belt loops; and, I can use it for multiple calibers without having a belt for each.  Works great with 45-70 rounds when shooting plainsman with trapdoor and a pair of 1861 Navies
