It was nice to see one of our newest members (Doc Holiday) post about Graf & Sons having RWS 1075 caps in stock in this most unusual of times, the post-pandemic hoarding frenzy. Since I can't recall when a shortage has extended this far-flung (from round balls to moulds, to caps and BP/subs and everything in between) I have decided to post a thread here and make it a sticky so that if any of our members come across an item that has been out of stock and suddenly someone has it, please post that item here with a link, if possible!
That way, all our membership can take advantage of any items they may not know about normally. We'll try to keep this going until the need for it ceases to be (if ever!) so please contribute to the thread even if it's an item you already have or don't need.
Thanks!

If you're looking for powder Graf's also has all granulations of Shuetzen in stock. I know it's not everyone's first choice but beggars can't be choosers sometimes.
https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/category/categoryId/3501
I just ordered one of each as well as the max on RWS caps and I also grabbed musket caps for my Sharps while I was at it.

Again, I wish! And actually, I'm pretty pissed. Once again, I read about this on another forum and no notification from Midway even though I've been on the "notify me" list for months now. But you can buy 'em all right now and they never say a word to us who were waiting.
I'm good anyway. Just bought 2000 from Natchez two weeks ago.
Just passing it on to you boys.
-
I’m just kiddin around )lI Midway is generally spot on with notifications. I have noticed though that if you put something in a wishlist it may remain unavailable permanently yet the same item will eventually become available and you don’t know. The SKU changes and it’s the same darn item. Oh well. *9+

Please don't complain about the prices. I have nothing to do with that.....lol.

Doc, I use LP and LR primers in my BPCR loads! Good to hear somebody is getting a few trickling in...now that I'm pretty well stocked again.. :fighting0036:

CCI #11 and Remington #10 percussion caps were in stock at the Cabela's store north of Denver CO today. Maybe they have them in other stores too. I haven't seen any around here for a year or more. Be advised though... they are pricey at $12.99/100.

Well just to get us back on the right track, here is a little supply chain news.
I ordered some .31 cal round balls from October Country last week. They arrived in short order on Saturday. 100 pure leads balls for $10. Now I can finally shoot the little 49 Pocket that I've had for a long time. Or in actuality, my daughter can shoot it.
So if you can't find lead, October Country has it in stock and ships fast.

Not a good deal, if you knew how much work goes into a Walker kit. Another $50.00 and you can have it completely finished.

Roger that Cap👍 I’m just ignorant🤣🤣🤣
-
Roger that Cap👍 I’m just ignorant🤣🤣🤣
No, sir. Not ignorant at all. It's just that $50.00 off a finished gun doesn't seem worth it when you figure how many hours go into a finishing a kit revolver, not to mention the cost of applying a finish to the metal. It cost me $60.00 to have my Army kit hot blued by a professional gunsmith...and this was back in the 1980s. Your labor probably works out to around .50 cents an hour by the time you finish. It's a terrific learning experience, don't get me wrong. But once you've done it, you check it off your list and say, "OK, not gonna do THAT again!" LOL

Yes. I get that👍 I think Midway, when they have the non kit Walker it’s like $10 more!!?? I paid $419 for mine back in April. It does sound laborious on the kit albeit a learning experience? You would think you would save a little more money than $10?🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂

If you want a learning experience build a brass frame kit.
-
Why brass frame Hawg??
-
Because the brass is rough and has to be polished out and some part are oversized. This one has the steel parts blued but usually you have to smooth out the tool marks and blue it yourself.
-
When I buy a piece I just want a gun. Kits are not my thing. It's a delay.
Get it. Take apart and smooth things up, lube, reassemble. Go shoot. I have never wanted to be a gun factory.
-
Thank you Hawg. Makes perfect sense😊👍

They don't have much. 2 different brassers, an engraved Navy with white plastic grips, and the Dance in "Old Silver" finish.

Kits are my thing. The lower price, if any, is icing on the cake. My first couple of black powder guns were kits, including a brasser '58.
It's like reloading; I've often heard people say that reloading is only good if you don't value your time. I do value my time. Especially the time I get to spend reloading, casting bullets, and building guns! :cowboypistol:

WECSOG, Howdy, I can understand why you like kits and such. I like casting round balls and making my own wads. It's enjoyable to me. I've never tried a kit but I can see where that would be great fun. (7&

Kits are appealing to me too, for the reasons already mentioned. I'm the kind of guy that will take a Navy and turn it into a Dance. I get great satisfaction from building something myself, cost be damned.
I tell people all the time, they're just Italian copies. They have little monetary value. They are not priceless Colt collectibles.

Midway and Starline both are showing...after several years' drought... .45LC brass back in stock. They had nickel plated for a day or so but long gone.
Graf & Sons show IN STOCK:
Graf's Classic black powder, 1, 2 and 3F
Schuetzen 1, 3 and 4F
Swiss 1, 1.5, 2, 3 and 4F
Fairly normal pricing, too. Strike while the iron's hot, boys.
https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/category/categoryId/3501
-
I don't have a 45-70 anymore. I wish I did. I had to turn down an original trapdoor down a year or two ago for 600.00. I just didn't have the funds. I really hated to leave it there. The only nickle cases I've ran were .38 special. I hate reloading them. They crack too easy. I've got enough powder to last awhile. I don't remember the grades for all of it but I have Swiss 2 and 3F, Goex and Olde Enysford. I think 8 1/2 pounds altogether.

It practically is and some of it is giving me fits and I may screw it up yet. I sincerely doubt I could build a Colonial or Southern Mountain Rifle. Those require more wood work and drilling holes in wood and metal. There's no way I'd attempt one of them.
