I've been scrutinizing photos of dismantled Colts (1849 and 1851:s) and think (just think) I've seen two variants of grease tracks in the arbor. One design is a trapeze thread along the arbor and the other possible design is a number of radially turned ditches.
Were there two designs, or have I interpreted the photos all wrongly?
