This neglected gun said she wanted to have her picture taken also. Mechanically fine, the metal finish is not as nice as on my 1870. Here is the lock.
-
The full view.
-
I put a repro pistol grip attachment on it but I'm not sure I like it. It doesn't match the rest of the gun finish. The rack number is also stamped into the stock.
-
I think this stamp is the unit number?
-
This is the ram-rod bayonet and release mechanism.
-
The butt plate and trapdoor for storing the cleaning rod.
-
Trap open showing recesses for the cleaning rod....sadly missing.
-
The bore on this rifle is also nice and shiny.
-
She's a beauty Em. Another one I'd be proud to own. Someday I'll have one.
-
Nice rifle but that pistol grip thingy looks hinky.
-
Yet another gem from Mazo's endless gun vault... L@.
-
Very nice, Mazo.
Could you please add a photo of the trapdoor open?

I agree, but at the time I thought I needed it. I think the originals were put on officer's rifles/carbines. Not exactly an inexpensive part either.
-
Len, is this what you wanted to see?
-
Slightly different angle.
-
Yes Mazo, I wanted to see the mechanism. Thanks!
