Title: Need help with info.
Post by: tljack on January 16, 2021, 09:38:50 AM
I have a heavily engraved brasser, 1860 Army Colt. Do to the engraving, all proof marks, date codes and manufactures symbols are not visible.
The only thing other than the roll stamped cylinder in the way of marking is on the barrel. The name of the importer, "Connecticut, Valley Arms Inc" is on the top of the barrel.
I realize this is little to go on, but am hoping that one of you experts can help me here. My end goal is to get enough info to locate a "hand" the fits the gun.
A few months ago I posted about this gun.

The photo says Uberti but I have no idea what it is.

It's either ASM or Pietta. I know you said the date code was gone but CVA bought guns from ASM up until 2000. After that they were Pietta's.

Thank you for your reply!

Any suggestion of what hand I should get?

Pietta will be easier to find. Even if you get the correct hand it will need fitting. None will be a drop in fit. What's wrong with the one you have?

Apparently the previous owner got a bit carried away with the hone.

Every CVA brasser I owned was a ASM, Terry. Including the Army. Like Hawg says, you will have to get a similar part and trim to fit. It doesn't take long.

I will get a Pietta hand ordered. No issue with hand fitting it.
