I built a cool Iron head in my younger days. It’s a decoration in a biker bar now.

I purchased a Roadstar back in 2000, in late 2002 we put my wife on a 650 V-Star.
Then in late 2005 she decided she wanted something bigger and decided on a Heritage Softail Classic.
I just couldn't ride the Yamaha with her driving a Harley, so we purchased a pair of Heritages.
Never looked back, now I have over 80,000 miles on mine & she has over 75,000 miles on hers.

What would be cool is if I still had it. I needed money after the first divorce and sold it. This was way back in the day. The only pic I still have of it. I did all the work and paint on it myself. I still have the hair but I ain't as purty as I was back then. (7+"

My next will most likely be a Heritage. I do tend to like Roadkings as well. In all honesty the Roadstar will most likely outlast me. I belong to a Roadstar group/ family . I have brothers for life in the group.
I have a thing for old Harleys. Specially Shovelheads.

Yes, trauma indeed! Last year I sold off all 3 of my Harleys. I didn't want to, but health concerns keep me from riding.
My favorite was my 66 Shovelhead. Foot clutch, jockey shift. Loved that thing.

One of the choppers I also built. 72 Ironhead in a Paughco hardtail frame. I did a lot of custom detail stuff on the bike. It had all copper tubing for oil and fuel lines. I also built a bell crank/jackshaft system to reverse the foot controls. As you know, the earlier Sportsters had the shifter on the right and the brake on the left. I hated that.

And one more chopper I built when I worked for a little hot rod shop for a while. it's a 68 Triumph top end, mated to an early Norton Botton end. We called it a "Trumpton". The frame on this used the neck and rear wheel mount from the Triumph. The rest is custom. It was a pretty cool little bike. I had fun working at that shop. Except the owner took all the credit for my work, and never even mentioned me. I was only there a year before I moved on and opened my own shop.

That would be a cool one to have.
My 66 was a Pan/Shovel. Panhead bottom end with Shovelheads. I believe it was only done that way for a couple years. Otherwise known as a generator Shovel.

66-68. Mine was a 66 with a one piece aluminum primary cover. The cover was dated 1965 and I believe it be original to the bike. Nobody in their right mind would replace a derby cover with one. Generator shovel, slab bottom shovel, flat side shovel, pan shovel.

Mine had an open primary with a belt drive. It was the old style with a 1" belt. Hated that thing. It made a bunch of racked when you pushed the clutch in, and I got my pant leg caught in it more than once. I was on the hunt for an original clutch setup so I could go back to stock with the primary. Ended up selling it before I got to do it.

I did have a couple Triumphs, a 1966 Tiger with twin Mono-Bloc's,
and a 1968 Bonneville with a weld on hard-tail. Can't find pics.

We had a local Star Chapter here, unfortunately our local deal ran everyone out.
I think we started in 2002, and folded the Chapter in 2005.
Of course we met some great people in the Star Club.
We went to the annual rallies in Springdale, AR 2002, Salt Lake City, UT 2003,
Roanoke, VA 2004, and our last was St. Joseph, MO 2005. It was fun.

You're absolutely right there! That's why I converted the Ironhead. Once you're used to the traditional way, doing it backwards can be hair raising!
And another one is old Indians. My buddy has a 52 Indian Chief. It has the throttle on the LEFT and spark advance on the RIGHT. Throw in a foot clutch and tank shift, and that thing is a wild ride! I nearly crashed it the first time I rode it.

That's funny! Me too! My Uncle had a Panhead with the original rocker clutch. When I stepped on it and it stayed down, I thought the same thing!
