Greetings,
I have an opportunity to pick up a used Uberti 1860 Colt Army. Bore and chambers looked rust free, and it looked as if it had not been shot too much.
Had some scratches in the bluing, and the wood was nicked a little. All the mechanicals seemed tight.
I found an Italian date code chart with which I hope to figure out how old it is.
I suspect the gun is probably 20 or 30 years old, but just an educated guess.
Any thoughts, comments, and experience on the quality level of older Uberti's versus brand new ones will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Brownie

Older ones are better than newer ones.

Hi brownie, welcome to the forum. What's the two-letter date code? Any photos?
The big question is: How Much?
Hard to beat an Army, just sayin.

Good morning Brownie, and welcome to Colt Country! When you get a minute, head over to the new member section and tell us a little about yourself. You'll find a bunch of friendly and helpful people here.
That Uberti sounds like a nice pistol. If you can tell us the two letters stamped in a box, we can tell you the date it was made. The older Uberti's seem to be nicer guns than the new ones. And the new ones are pretty darn nice. Look forward to seeing it if you get it.

Welcome aboard!
Head over to the Welcome Wagon and tell us about yourself!
One thing you will likely have to deal with is the infamous Uberti "short arbor issue". Type it in the search box and you'll find tons of good info on it from some very qualified people. Glad to have you here and looking forward to your participation!

I called the seller back this afternoon, and he'd already sold it ! Oh, well....
However, thanks for all of the response.
