Title: You guys ever see this before?
Post by: Captainkirk on January 29, 2014, 08:56:04 PM
While cleaning my ASM brasser .36 'Schneider & Glassick'  the other day, I happened to notice an unusual thing...if you look at the barrel stamping, it says "BLACK POWDER ONLY  CAL .36  MADE IN ITALY"
However, if you angle the light in the lettering, it's visible that the ".36" stamping has been stamped OVER the numbers ".44" .
Does this make this particular gun any more valuable than your run-of-the-mill brasser or S&G replica, like a coin that has been double-stamped? Or just a reminder that Guido was having a bad day at the factory?
A few shots of the S&G......

And a couple close-ups of the double-stamping.

Personally, I've never seen this before on a BP revolver.

Mis-stamping on firearms is not a big deal.  S&W has a lot of mismarked revolvers out there.  This is the first time I have seen it on a C&B revolver but I don't look for it either.  I wouldn't pay a premium for it, nor would I seek a deduction in price.
