Conversions / My Conversion Adventure
« on: September 10, 2016, 10:30:32 AM »
The revolver started of as a 1988 Pietta 1860 Colt.  I changed the barrel to a 51 style thus producing a hybrid:

Then Pietta improved the 51 grip dimensions, so that was added as well as a new set of internals and a Kirst gated cylinder in 45 Colt:
and here is the final result:

My observations:  Today's internals are way better in quality to those of 1988.
It turned a heifer of a revolver into something that is lively in the hand.

Picked up from a consignment, always liked the early ones. A Type 1 from 1906!

Decided to compare my recently acquired Uberti Walker with my Ruger .454 Super Redhawk.  Tossed in a bowie for a little color.

Navy Models / ASM Squareback 1851
« on: September 08, 2015, 08:19:28 AM »
I just did a little upgrade on my ASM Navy.  I swapped out the hammer for one made by Uberti. Never did like the shape of the original.  It appears that all the parts on my ASM are fully interchangeable with Uberti components.
(Plus it gave me an opportunity to try out my new Nikon 16-35mm lens)

Army Models / 60 Army Shoulder Stock
« on: August 24, 2015, 07:34:41 PM »
Today I received a 60 Army shoulder stock that I recently purchased new.  The Manufacturer was unknown to me a time of purchase.  My understanding from various posts on the net is that these stocks cannot be mixed an matched between the manufacturers of Uberti and Pietta.
Here is the stock that I picked up (It is an EMF Stock made by Pietta according to the box):

I happen to own a Uberti 1860 Army (date code CL) and a Pietta 1860/51 hybrid fantasy (date code AT), so I figured that I could not lose - the stock should fit one or the other.  Much to my surprise the stock fits both!

The Uberti

The Pietta

Been collecting for a few years and thought I'd drop by.
Knowing that pics are de rigueur, here are some of my BP items:
