« on: February 04, 2020, 10:56:47 AM »
Just finished a video by Mike Belliview re: modifying a Remington to easily allow seating the
bullet into the guns cylinder.
Is there any issue with Colt Army .44  revolvers clearance as do the Remingtons?

General Discussion / The fun of Shooting black powder revolvers
« on: November 03, 2019, 08:37:29 AM »
The last time time I was at the range I brought a modern Smith&Wesson 38 and shot a cylinder .
Then loaded up a 44 Black powder Colt and shot a cylinder worth.
At that time It hit me that there is is lot more fun going through the process of poring powder , a wad and seating a lead round ball in each cylinder chamber ,adding an ignition cap on each cone , pulling the trigger and seeing to plum of gray smoke.
Somehow hitting a target really didn't matter. The sound black powder , the soft recoil, the smell of smoke it makes .........Damn that's Good.

Off-Topic Discussion / WW 11 B17 crash in Connecticut
« on: October 03, 2019, 12:09:11 PM »
In May 2017 I was visiting with son , when I heard the distincitive engine sounds of a multi engine
aircraft and knew it was a WW 11 area, stepped out side as the beautiful B17 was in a landing pattern
over my house. Our locate Riverside City Airport is less than two miles West of me. The particular approach is used mostlly by General Aviation aircraft so I thought we have a special local visitor.
Jumped in my car, went to the airport, there they were B17, B24, P51 Mustang, all on the taxi way
setting up for a display.
Took the walking tour with my son went aboard the B17 from nose to tail. Being my first time even touching one of these historical warriors is a thrill.
The nose painting was "Nine O Nine" , the same craft that just crashed in Connecticut. a few days ago.
Sad for anyone loosing their life. Life is  temporary.

The three screw version was made with no shoulder stock notch. Did any replica mfg make them ?
I believe Pietta did but can't verify that. I know Uberti makes  a Navy Civilian 3 screw no notch  I have one..

Conversions / 45 LC conversion by Howell
« on: July 17, 2019, 04:14:24 PM »
In an effort to rebuild my small collection of BP revolvers as I'm very happy with the Remington 1858
5 1/5 barreled Kirst gated conversion. So I thought I might like a Colt short barrel 44 Sherriff  with a Howell conversion.
This time using a Howell 45 drop in so no need to modify the frame. This would also work in the future
1860 Army Civilian in the plan.
Anyone that have this setup Sheriff ?  Comments on their likes and dislikes ?
Just so happens I have a new Pietta 44 Sherriff in my collection ,that has never been shot. 8)
By the way I roll my LC and Schofield.
