I had the dubious distinction of being the first man in the four year history of the 4th Military Intelligence Co. (4th Inf Div) in Viet Nam to be wounded.  That was while I was on loan with one of my interrogation teams to a battalion of the 173d located at LZ Uplift in northeastern II Corps in Sept. 1970.  My replacement got hit the next day while choppering in to replace me.  We quit going to support your guys after that.  GF
Sorry for your wounds GF. I know it wasn't funny then but you sure added a little humor in your post. Yep, I guess you found out that the "Herd" used to get into some pretty good doozies over there. To enlighten you a bit ,my first wound was cause by our own friendly fire when the VC broke through our perimeter out in the jungle. Our CO called in a volley of HE but the rounds landed short and I caught some of the shapmetal. The second time,I was wounded, I was on point and fell into a pungi stake hole. I was very fortunate in that one just got me in the leg and not somewhere else.Oh God,the thought of that.
Welcome home brother!

Yup...lawsuits, including Sandy Hook....but even bigger is the dramatic drop off of quality. Another large lawsuit of the Model 700 triggers and 870 issues sounded a death knell. Remington was no longer considered a quality product. I'm sure Vista Outdoors will do a much better job than the previous investment group...so the Remington name will still be around, but the quality will remain to be tested.
The only thing that was ever wrong with the Rem. 700 triggers were the unsafe idiots behind them. Much like the idiots that took MacDonalds for their money because they drove down the road with a hot cup of coffee between their legs.

Yep, completely over that virus deal and even got my first vaccine shot at the VA on Feb 25th,although I laid in my recliner on the 26th,my birthday, because my left arm, both shoudlers, lower back, neck and left hand were hurting badly where all my arthritis is but it only lasted the one day. Must have been a reaction to the shot,is all I can figure. At least I didn't feel sick or anything like that.

Same here, no sense paying for a haircut at a Barber Shop when I have horse clippers in the barn. The wife does mine. What does a haircut cost these day ? I bet they raised the price to $5 now.

Gunsmithing/Parts & Repairs/Refinishing / Re: barrel/cylinder gap measuring

I couldn't stand it no more. I hated seeing my brand new Pietta 1851 Navy laying around as a paper weight so I broke down and hit up one of those scalper on ebay and ended up paying $150 for a brand new barrel for it. It finally arrived and all went well and I have it installed. The barrel is a 2020,same as the one that my gunsmith messed up.My new barrel/cylinder gap .005". That's a far cry from the .027" that my gunsmith created.

How much of a "friend" is this gunsmith (if you prefer to call him that..."hack" is a more fitting terminology)? If the answer is anything less than "a really good friend", I would be sending him a copy of the bill, and let his conscience be the guide. That will tell you in spades how much of a friend he REALLY is.
You have a point but seeing how he finally got home after a two month stay in the hospital where he almost died from the Covid and then fighting cancer on top of it,I just can't bring myself to do that.

Good luck finding anything for reloading at the present time, unless you want to pay the rip-off prices on gunbroker, and ebay.
Even Amazon has sky high prices on rloading equiptment.

Powder Burn, do a search for the .243 brass you can probably find some, even range brass. Now if you nedd primers, and powder, I can't give you any ideas.

Dave
Lol, no problems on primers. I found some the other day at an LGS for $125 per thousand. lol There are reports some guys are charging $300 and $400 for 1000. Glad I don't need any right now. I liked it better when I bought mine for $29 per 1000.
These are crazy times,for sure.

I had the covid on Jan 1st and I was sicker then a dog for about 3 weeks. I am 74 and the VA finally has me scheduled for my first shot next week. Hope I have no issues since so close after having the covid.  My doctor says for me to get it now and my wife's doctor told her to wait for 90 days before she gets a shot. She came down with the covid the same time I did. Cross fingers!

I mounted and bore sighted a scope on my new coyote rifle, a Ruger American matt stainless in 243 Winchester. Got a couple boxes of factory ammo for it, believe it or not, and a couple boxes of bullets for reloading but now I need to come up with brass for reloading which are very hard to find. Everything is on backorder.

Thanks fellas. We did have fun for sure.

My daughter has been bugging me to go shooting for months. But our shooting area has been closed due to fore restrictions. When it opened up a couple weeks ago, I knew I ha to get the kids up there. Since they were both off school for Presidents Day yesterday, we took advantage of the time off.

Powder Burn is very astute! My daughter does indeed have better shooting form than I do. And she can hit better than me as well! That door is right at 100 yards away and she was regularly hitting it with an 1860 Army. That's pretty good shooting in my book!
Like!

Nice video Dave and I hate to say it, but your daughter has better shooting form then you do. I noticed that you didn't show us how many times she hit the target then you did.  ;)
