  I'm sure everyone knows what a brass frame Pietta 51 Navy looks like,but here's a pic anyway LOL.
   Exterior fit and finish look good,bolt needs some attention its dragging pretty bad on cylinder,action just feels crunchy,I'll tear it down clean up any burrs and go from there,I got it for a project so I'm happy.

    You guys have some great looking RB bags,I have a couple plain drawstring bags I've made,a couple RB bags with wooden necks and stoppers I've bought,but honestly I use square tea bottles if I actually plan to shoot a bunch,or small pill bottles if I am hunting or just want a extra dozen shots or so with me.

     If I was going to be at a public range I'd use proper ball bags,other then Military Ranges I think I've only been on a official range 3 times,since 99% of my shooting is by myself in my pasture I am lazy 

    Well crap,I skimmed midway last night when I came in house,they'd got a handful of 5.5" barrel brass frame Pietta 51 Navys in and also on sale ,I realise not totally correct but not the .44 caliber thing either,and honestly I dont have a problem with the never were guns as long as a fella knows what it is,just a fun gun to shoot
      I kinda wanted a cheap gun to play with,I want to try aging one and something without a long barrel will be handier to carry,also something that I dont care if stocks and metal get banged and scratched up while working around farm,it should fit my wants very well.

     

Sorry guys its carry a Remington New Model Navy day,I have outstanding help I'd never get pastures fertilized and sprayed without my helper

    Thank you Shotgun Dave,I sure monkeyed with it a lot,boocoo cap jams at first,terrible accuracy and inconsistant ignition,first time I shot it,only managed 2 cylinders before I threw in the towel,dang near every shot managed to have cap jam of some sort,a lot of polishing and deburing hammer face helped,slickshot nipples with the polishing makes cap sucking pretty rare,maybe 1 every 4 or 5 cylinders or so and they dont get blown back into the innards anymore.

      I believe thats when I found this forum searching the web for solutions.

     Once cap issue was sorted out,I couldnt get decent accuracy or consistant velocities,I finally paid the crazy Ebay price for .380 RB mold the differance between .375 and .380 totally changed performance,went from happy to keep all balls on target to 1.5-2" groups at 12 yards.

    I have 62 Police,and it shot about 14-15" high and 2" right at12 yards,I did little fileing on rear sight deepening V and taking more off side to move windage,my windage is now dead on,however I really dont want to file hammer notch any deeper,as it is I filed fairly deep and just barely put front sight into V of rear sight and still am 5-6" high at 12 yards,my question is.
       Are those front sights just pressed in? looking at pistol it looks like pressed in with a very slight round swage around brass post,if so what is best way to remove sight? do I need to carefully drill or can I just pull out with vice grips to make taller front sight post?

    I carry and hunt a lot with handguns,once I found load she likes I believe she'll make a dang handy easy to carry cap and ball squirrel slayer just need POA and POI dead on.

  My little 1862 Pocket Police,After having it out a lot I was losing intrest,finally found a loading it likes 4 balls,I totally missed the whole thing with one shot  not far and resting wrists on sandbag.
