Percussion Caps and Primers / Re: primer seating depth
« on: March 31, 2024, 06:23:58 PM »
I have always seated primers on the press but lately I'm thinking about changing this up due to some primers being very hard to fully seat. Are you reaming primer pockets during brass prep?

Might try that with my Great Plains. If I ever shoot it, that is.

No.
And for what it's worth, Powder Valley has RWS caps IN STOCK as of right now:

Done plenty of biz with them and they are a trusted source.

I'd call that pretty darn good for first three! Something tells me you'll be shooting this one a lot!

What a great way to start the day! Are you gonna try aftermarket nipples on the Navy? I sure would.

There are several threads running on this tool on various forums as well. It's supposed to be for "primer cups" but several reviewers say they work on caps.

Rick, thank you for your diligent efforts and research on the home made caps. This thread will no doubt be a great resource for many as caps continue to be scarce (or non-existent).

I like it! That's gotta make range loading a whole lot easier than using an adjustable measure like I do.

Beautiful works, but...yikes! I'd be afraid to shoot some of those investments!

Well, I was a bit of a hard sell on a cap post (or rake, if you prefer). Until Mike talked me into one. Now I'm totally sold. Haven't had a cap jam on any of those guns since they were installed.
