Got mine yesterday and noticed the same issue with the brass - some staining and a few small pits as well. Also there are some grip fit issues - a bit of excess wood on the heel of the backstrap. Could have used a bit more sanding there. You can definitely feel the sharp lip there. Not sure if I want to send back or try to polish the brass and finish the grips' fit.

Hey thanks, Richard! VTI shows ASM wedge screws as "no longer available" so I have both a Pietta and Uberti screw on the way. Maybe one of those will work. :)

Hey guys,

I just picked this up. It's a Lyman 1860 Army - date code suggests 1980 I believe. The unique thing about it to me (and I am a bit of a rookie so it may not be that unique) is the nickel or stainless trigger guard and backstrap. I don't think I've ever seen CH frame and stainless mixed.

Looks like I'm missing the wedge screw, just noticed as I was taking photos. I'll have to try to dig one up - any suggestions?

I'm trying to get a handle on the 1849 size. So it would be the roughly same as the 62 police like Hawg mentioned? Slimmer than the full size frames?

Those being the 2nd and 3rd from the bottom, right? Yes - quite a bit of difference in size. Thanks for posting that. Do you happen to have a 49 pocket you could post with the 62 police?

Oh really? I wasn't sure what it was to be honest. It was part of my dad's estate. I assumed a '49 from looking at others on google. It does say Cal 36 on the barrel - I noticed most of the pockets were .31s. How can I tell for sure?

Hi Hawg - I have to question further because I'm seeing a rather large size difference between the 2. Unless I've completely miss identified the 1849 pocket it's twice the girth for starters. See photos below. I'm having a hard time finding a holster for the '62 due to its size. :)
