OK, fellow long gun legions...listen up!
Due to the unbelievable response by members submitting some incredible photos for our banner contest, I have decided to start a thread here in long guns for photos of you fave 'extended muzzle' guns. No contest or banner for any of this, just a good, old-fashioned photo album of some of the incredible rifles I've seen bits and pieces of around this forum. Let's try to do 'em up with great backgrounds and accoutrements and such as we did with the revolvers! Just about anything goes...rifles, carbines, even stocked pistols. If there's one thing I've found, it's that visitors to the site as well as the regular members LOVE EYE CANDY! (jh Let's give them something to ogle.
Since this is not a contest (though there might be a 'best-of vote later) you can submit any time with no deadline, and as many entries as you like. I know Scooby had some jaw-droppers in the past that got swallowed up in the PB fiasco of his Henrys, Winchesters, Marlins, Burgess, etc as well as some drop-dead gorgeous flinters and such. I'll be starting a new thread once a few picture get posted here; maybe we can have Dave move the photos and blow them up along with your description text for the photo gallery?
Anyway, hope this turns out as well as the contest did!

This is a great idea Capt. Everyone likes content. It's what brings people in and it also keeps people interested.
Things like this can breathe new life into our little corner of the inter-webs.
I know we're a primarily Colt cap n' ball pistol site, but 99% of us are just "old gun" guys. We like any guns from our chosen period of the 19th century and before.
You guys post em' up and I'll move them around to make it easy for all to enjoy them!
-
Great! Now things are starting to get going on here. I'm in.
-
That's what we wanna hear Len!! ='9 +]P ='9 +]P ='9 +]P ='9
-
Well, maybe I can scrape a couple of photos up since I managed to procrastinate long enough to miss the banner contest. Can Dave (or you) consolidate the pictures as a "sticky" thread album of long guns?

We sure can EM. And once we get a few submissions, that's what I'll do with them.

I'll have to see if I can rescue something from photobucket.

Rat bastards. Even the pix that they allow through are either blurred or have their disgusting watermark splashed all over the photo.
I will never use or recommend PB again. Even though I pay for access to my Flickr account (due to the high quantity of photos stored there) it's only a few bucks a month...not 400 a year!...and they have never held my pictures hostage and demanded blood money. In fact, they gave me the option to either move or delete my pictures down to under 1000 and keep the free account or upgrade to Pro and gave me a full 6 months to do it.
I really enjoy the editing software so upgraded, and not sorry I did it.

Once the album is started, I will 'sticky' it so it will always be available for viewing.

I can still get my pics. I just have to copy them and move them to Imgur. I do a few here and there when I need one but it's a PITA to try to move over 2000 pics that way. I suppose one day they will freeze my account and I will lose what's left but I'm just too lazy to do it.

My original .577 Enfield and an Armisport repro I bought new in 1980. I also have original bayonets that fit both.

I already took everything I wanted. Flickr allowed me to create new albums, then I could select and move en masse (once I figured out how to do it!). What's left I really don't care about. What PB did to tens of thousands of forums and small accounts will and never should be forgotten as one of the lowest, dirtiest scams in modern history.

Between Hawg and Jim, we've started this out with a couple of home runs!!
Nice pics fellas!
-
I started a new topic and stickied it. It's just for me to put everyone's pictures and showcase them. Please don't reply there, so it stays uncluttered and it's easy to look at the pictures. Thanks fellas.
Enjoy!

Those are fantastic as usual Steve!
If they are double posts, nobody's gonna complain!

I found this pic tonight in my Flickr storage. I then searched the forum to see if I had shared it. I went through every category I could think of and never came across it. So here it is. Sorry if it is a double up repeat.
Uberti 1885 Winchester in caliber 45-120.

And in .45-120 Sharps to boot!!!

I went and got one of my guns back from the pawn shop and they still have that original 92 Winchester in 32-20. I wrote down the serial number and it was made in 1921. I wish somebody would buy it so I'll quit trying to figure out what I can stand to let go of to get it.
-
Scooby, you're killing me with that Henry and those 86's. Both are high on my wish list.
-
I don't ever recall seeing those '86s before, Scoob. Absolutely outstanding. I keep telling myself I need one, and your picture is not helping me at all!
-
I just love the looks of the patina on that particular piece.
Yep...one of the things that attracted me to it the moment I saw it!

I guess it's time I added mine, even though you've seen them before.

Here is my Pedersoli Sharps "Schuetzen" Model in 45-90 caliber. I had emailed Pedersoli for information about this rifle and Gloria responded that they had only made 100 of this model. I feel pretty lucky to have found it! I purchased a Ron Heilman Soule rear tang sight for it.

It's a Uberti I bought from Cabela's in 1997.

That is a rare thing of beauty Mazo!
Thanks for the clarification Fingers. I updated the library.

Another unusual gun in my collection; this is a Martini Schuetzen in 10.4 X 38R (41 Swiss Rim Fire).

Some mighty fine looking long guns are starting to surface on this thread!!!!!
Agreed.
-
That's for sure!!!
That's a gorgeous gun Mazo.
-
You weren't kidding when you said some mighty fine guns are surfacing on this thread.

Scooby, I HAD an '86 Winchester, sold it last year. It was in 38-56 caliber. I made brass by forming 45-70 cases in the reloading die. Still have the dies and some formed cases. Yours looks to be in well cared-for condition.
-
Continuing onward... next is my Uberti Yellow Boy '66 Winchester. This is a first year production gun in 38 Special.

That's a fine example Em.
Do you shoot smokeless or BP in it?
-
Thanks, so far I have only loaded light smokeless loads for it, but I do plan to shoot the Holy Black!
-
Excellent.
Once you shoot black out of it, you'll never go back to that heathen smokeless!
-
Another rather unusual rifle, this one is a German Stalking rifle in 8.15 X 46R, brass is made from either 30-30 or 32-40 brass, so is equivalent ballistically to those calibers. I have done some of each. A very nice light weight rifle!.

Man y'all have some nice guns.

You said it Hawg!!

Another of my "pretty" guns, this is a Remington #3 Hepburn in 25-25 Stevens caliber.(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49498800387_9086a3ded1_z.jpg)
-
Why I call it a "pretty" gun.

In case you're not familiar with the 25-25 Stevens caliber, here is a case next to a 45-70.

-
Dang Em, all I can say is wow! That's one gorgeous rifle!
-
The only thing I've had as nice as some of these was my Weatherby Mark V Deluxe but I sold it last year.
-
That wood is unreal!
-
Wow Mazo,
I always thought the Hepburn's were an ugly over sized beast, that was until I handled one.
They are a true classic, and I must add a very small action. Pictures never do them justice.
I believe Hepburn built the falling block action so it would never have to be removed from the rest to load.

Here is a MINT! original Rolling Block in 50-70 caliber.
-
It even has it's original bayonet (which I have not included in the pictures).
-
From the research I and others have done, this is supposed to be a Salesman's sample rifle, shown at military events, etc. to induce sales contracts.
-
Wow Em! That is a gorgeous piece.
-
Here are a few pictures of my Peabody rifle.
-
I bought this rifle before I had a computer, so didn't see any pictures.
-
Pretty much unfooled with.
-
You have the coolest stuff Em.
What caliber is the Peabody?
-
It is in 45-50 caliber, a necked down 50 caliber case. I'll see if I can find (or take) some pictures.
-
I don't know if I have shown this one before...it is a Shiloh in 40-90SBN.

More of the rifle

The receiver.

Mazo, beware of con men and pick pockets!
-
Here is a photo of the 45-50 Peabody cartridge. There is not much info on reloading, but since it is a black powder round, it is hard to go wrong. It is essentially a necked down 50-70 cartridge. The originals were paper patched cartridges. I haven't loaded any yet...The 50-70 is on the left.
-
I think I have posted this under a different topic, but here is my original Sharps carbine.
-
A shot of the receiver.
-
And the sling bar/ring.

This is a paper cutter, Em?
-
Nope, 50-70 carbine.

We have seen that one before, but it never gets old!
