Camo, just fixed the pic. There’s a limit on size. I also reframed it for landscape. It’s a beauty. I have a fairly modern Pietta by Traditions “Josey Wales” similar finish to yours but in no way compares with yours👍👍

That's a beauty, Camo.  I'm quite partial to the look along those lines.  Real nice.

Do you suppose that will darken up a little further with handling and use?  Did bronze or copper wool get used to create that finish?

Yes, please give us the skinny on how you got the look. I like it. A lot!

thank you for fixing the picture, and all the compliments, when I originally assembled it I cold blued it and it was very blotchy finish after a few years I decided to strip it and try again. the bluing went on better but very light and after several attempts to add more layers it wasn't getting any better. This was about the time I started shooting it and one day while cleaning it I said what the heck and using bluing remover and 0000 steel wool removed the bluing, this was the result (no effort on my part just luck) I really like the look and I used Ballistol and 0000 steel wool to even it all up. Shooting it over the years it has gotten some patina and dark stains here and there but I still like the look. The size of this CVA is a lot thicker and heavier than a modern repro Navy but it's a good shooter and we have history together. This kit gun was a gift from my wife just after we got married so again more history.

That's a real beauty Camo. I'm partial to the natural look on these guns. You did a fine job on this one, even if it was by accident.
