Walkers & Dragoons / Walker # 2
« on: February 03, 2022, 03:41:58 PM »
I recently bought this on GB. I had been watching it. The same seller was also selling a Paterson at the same time but was listed as a Walker with a trigger missing. Anyway, this was a better find than I thought  for $365 plus tax n shipping. Received the gun in a zip up canvas padded pouch. It was flawless to my eyes. BU code 2004. I also was speculating it was an ASM. There were only 2 pictures on the auction. Never asked any questions of the seller. Anyway, fast forward, I received it and I broke it down. I had to pull the cylinder pretty hard to get it off. The old factory grease was holding tight. Tickled me to death. So anyway, turns out it was/is a Uberti. I actually thought when I bid on it that someone would counter. Almost hoped they would because I had no business spending the money. A doghouse isn’t much fun to sleep in. See what you folks think.

Capt. Kirk's thread on the 1858 Conversion was very inspirational to me. I was about to sell my lone Remington because i never used it. I think I will keep it now and try and get into the smokeless bidness  with this here beauty. I have posted these before but thought they needed another rotation.

Tools and other trinkets / Cappers, Do you use one?
« on: January 26, 2022, 05:51:00 AM »
So, just curious what anyone out there might think about cappers in genera? Do you find them helpful or a nuisance or have no opinion?  I've read several different opinions on other forums. Old subject? Maybe, but to new aspiring BP enthusiasts the more seasoned vets could help the newer folks out with some sound advice. What I noticed with myself getting into this fun sport was that I read and read and read. I found myself buying stuff that was not necessarily needed. I purchased a capper myself and to me it seems to be just an extra thing to keep up with. Just my opinion. I would appreciate anyone telling me what they think (from experience) and or recommend? Best practices if you will? Please, share your thoughts and experiences with those who may not be as experienced. Thanks

Army Models / Rare 1960’s Centaure / Centennial Arms Model 1860
« on: January 21, 2022, 06:35:22 AM »
Hey fellas. Saw this on GB. So can someone tell me about this Belgian 1860 revolver? Does anyone here on CC own one by any chance?  Obviously, I am not familiar with this manufacturer. Are these considered better made revolvers than the Italian repro's? Thanks.
P.S. 45 Dragoon? Mike? Do these models also have the short arbor problem?

Okay fellers. Just got these. A 1968 Replica Arms/ASM Model 2 and a 1989 CVA/ASM Model 3. I absolutely love these. These are my first ever Dragoons. They do need some cleaning.

J.H. Dance / J. H. Dance and Brothers revolver
« on: January 09, 2022, 07:09:42 AM »
Anyone out there own an 1862 Dance replica in .36 or .44 cal? I was just poking around online and found this site. So, what interested me about the picture was...uh...well....... I'll just let someone else tell me what they see..... I know very little about these revolvers accept that there weren't many originals manufactured. Very interesting history on these I'm sure. Any takers?

Percussion Caps and Primers / CCI Communication
« on: December 08, 2021, 08:19:00 AM »
I recently began wondering why caps seem so hard to find. Maybe it’s not hard for some to find but for me it is. I realize we can all speculate as to why there seems to be a shortage of caps. Has it always been a problem? Is it a problem? Am I beating a dead horse? A number of you industrious guys have just decided to make your own. My hat is off to all of you!! The veterans here certainly know more than I. Please chime in and please share your thoughts and experiences. I for one would love to hear.  I decided to go to the 🐴 mouth or at least get close to the little guy. Here is a response to my inquiry from CCI.

Tim,

We are currently producing and shipping millions of primers and caps a day. With the current market we are in it is very difficult for distributors and dealers to keep them on the shelves. Our products are sent directly from the plant to distributors. Where it is then sold to retailers and then to you. We have no way of tracking who has it or when they will receive it in stock. The market for anything and everything with firearms is unbelievable right now and  it makes everything hard to find.

Thanks,

General Discussion / A time to share and give thanks
« on: November 09, 2021, 02:25:32 PM »
It seems there are a lot of great stories that I’ve read on this site in various threads regarding people whom have moved on from this life and left their much loved Colt’s to their favorite people. I would like to hear more stories about some of you who have been blessed with good friendship with those who have moved on. Also, if someone is fortunately still here who has blessed you with a gift in the form of a Colt is welcome👍 Just a good time to share your feelings and give thanks and recognition to past and present friends and loved ones who have made a difference in your life.

Hey guys. I got this lil jewel several months ago. My first Remmy. I know!! I know!!  Don’t git a rope!!! 🤣 I have not even shot it. Still has factory grease. So, I could read the instructions about breaking it down but I would prefer some folks here at Colt Country to give me some pointers. I would appreciate any advice. I believe this will accept the Howell conversion cylinder? Anyway, thanks for checking it out. Ready…Aim… Fuego!!!

Walkers & Dragoons / What' your Favorite Dragoon and Why?
« on: October 26, 2021, 11:06:06 AM »
Okay fellas, I'm looking to buy my first Dragoon. Since there is the Whitneyville, Model 1, Model 2 and Model 3, I am not certain which one to start with. I've read much on the forum and from other resources as well but I am still on the fence about what to buy. I was hoping some of you Dragoon lovers would help me out here. I want to hear your stories, see some cool photos of your iron's and why you might prefer one over the others. I've seen Shotgun Dave's Model 3 and think it's an awesome looking revolver. Since I can't talk him out of that one??   L@J
Thanks,
Tim

Okay. When I first got interested in BP I was looking for anything and everything i could find using google. I ran across this article and enjoyed reading it. Im sure many of you have seen and read this. Maybe some have not. Generally speaking, I would be interested in hearing what any of you think about this persons methods and the article itself. Sound practice or partially sound? I know everyone has their own practices, I was thinking that this may stir up some good conversation? See link below if interested.

Okay. Reassembling, or trying to. Is there a trick to getting the hand to slide back up in the cavity? I am not over forcing it. Wondering if somehow the spring must be depressed? It goes a little more than half way then balks. HELP!!!  (7+"

Ask The Experts / Cylinder turn marks and Cause?
« on: October 12, 2021, 03:48:17 PM »
I have an old gregorelli/uberti 1851 circa 1962. When I bought the revolver this line that ran the full circumference of the cylinder was present. This is probably old hat to most. My question is, is it a bolt timing issue that can cause this?  The line is a very light surface etch (not deep). Look forward to the education guys and Thank you. 👍
