General Discussion / Re: Which is your Colt manufacturer of choice?
« on: January 22, 2014, 12:51:58 PM »
I like Piettas because that's what I have and I find them reliable. I own one Uberti 1849 Pocket and it has been a PITA with broken hand springs and main springs that go weak after a few months. I'd love to sell or trade it for another Pietta navy in .36. The signature series are out of my price range and I own one ASM 1851 brasser in .44. Its ok but finding spare parts for ASM guns is dang near impossible these days.

Got an invite to join sooo I did. Been shooting caplock rifles for some time now and that lead to single shot percussion pistols and derringers and soon after cap and ball revolvers. Have a degree in history so the old style guns just seemed natural. Doesn't hurt that they are relatively inexpensive compared to new fangled guns which I have too. I have found the Colts to be the easiest to work on and they are just plain good looking guns. I have steel and brass framed guns and enjoy shooting all of them. I hunt, fish, garden and try to get outside when ever circumstances allow. I work at a local high school in special education so trigger time or time in the great outdoors is greatly appreciated on the weekends. Looking forward to discussing my favorite hobby here and exchanging tips and tricks with other cap and ball shooters.
