I was at the range today and another shooter, who knows I like black powder stuff, showed me some pics on his phone of what appears to be a Remington New Model Army that his friend just recently dug up on a ranch here in California. I was so dumb I forgot to ask him to email me pictures. He is a regular so I will ask him next time I see him. He said his friend was going to "clean the gun up" to see if he might be able to "restore" it. I told him not to clean it without first seeking expert advice and that anything beyond gently wiping down with an oily rag could seriously devalue the gun. I hope he catches his friend in time.
