Another refugee from the 1858 Forum
« on: February 14, 2018, 12:38:37 AM »
Hello,
Some of you already know me from the 1858 Forum. I have been lurking here for a few years and finally decided to join. The decision came about because my open top Colt stable has doubled the number of 1858's Remmie's I own. I'm now up to a Uberti 1860, both a Pietta and Uberti 1862, and a pair of 1851 Uberti's with consecutive serial numbers.  That doesn't cover the numerous modern Colt revolvers and automatics I have in my gun safe. I look forward to talking 150 year old tech with you guys!   L@.

Hi Brad, good to have you officially here. Most BP revolver users start with the Remmy and then progress to Colts with experience. Once you go Colt, you rarely look back.  L@. L@. L@.

Lotta truth there. Remmies seem to be the 'starter homes' of BP guns while Colts end up being the retirement condo on the golf course.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I bought my first percussion revolver, an 1858 Rem, back in the seventies because I thought it was more "modern" than those weak looking open top Colts. Now I prefer the more antique look of those the Colts. Maybe it's just because I've convinced myself that I like what I see in the mirror these days.

Hi Brad.  It will be fun and informative to read your post here, too.  Welcome to Colt Country

I started out in the late 60’s with Colts and had admired them since childhood but soon got into Remington’s too.  Each type complements the other and make for a well balanced smoking portfolio.  Hooked on both, here.

Thanks boys. I look forward to talking "Colt" with all of you in the future. For those of you that don't know me from the 1858 Forum, I'm a Machinist/Tool & Die Maker by trade and a habitual tinkerer by nature. I have enjoyed owning and shooting all types of firearms for the last 45 years. Other than poking around with mechanical devices, my hobbies include  camping, hiking, back packing and hunting. I look forward to retirement in one  to three years so I'll have more time to pursue my interests.
