I have a lot of luck with the spring traps.  I wind string/ thread,  several wraps,  but not too much,  around the trigger plate.  Then I’ll smear the peanut butter or press bits of a chocolate candy bar into the string so that the bait is not only on top of the string,  but we’ll into it.  The critters may lick the bait off,  but they get greedy and bite into the string.  That jostles the trigger and springs the trap.   8)

That's a good idea, DD! (or is that "22"? LOL!) ;)

I was 0 for 0 last night. I figure it's:

a) No mice left to pester the traps

b) These mice don't order pepperoni on their pizzas...cheese only (duh, they're mice!)

c) They've lived through the Reign of Terror and are quaking in their nests, afraid to venture out.

I think I'm gonna buy a few more traps, leave the pepperoni ones set, and maybe try your string trick with PB and see what happens.

Oh yeah, we do have a cat and she is a good little mouser. She prefers the smorgasbord of mice caught in traps too!

These bucket traps catch more mice with less work than anything else I've seen.

When my son moved into a ranch house that had been vacant over the winter they caught 15 per night for a nearly a week.   (It is a huge house and the last residents left it filthy).

That bucket trap is a brilliant idea! If you want some real entertainment though, read the comments at the bottom of the article!  *6'

Yeah, I was going to mention that too! Mice have rights too.

Zero for zero over the weekend, with no baits (pepperoni) taken. Does this mean I've run out of mice, or just that they don't like pepperoni? IDK the answer to that. I counted traps yesterday...seems I have 15 baited and set in a little ol' 2.5 car garage. Pretty good coverage, I'd say.

I think maybe you have run out of participants! Not that it is all that bad though. I am going to make a bucket trap soon and just put it in the basement, even though we don't notice mice (usually) until the Fall.

Only got six to date. But if they are out...that's great news! I'm definitely gonna do the bucket trick over the winter (with antifreeze). Sometimes I don't venture out there for weeks at a time.

We had bucket traps in our company stores. Good thing is that with ethylene glycol in the bucket, you need no bait. The little darlings lusted for the sweet drink. They just walked the plank, which was a slippery see-saw

I dunno man. Antifreeze poisoning is a horrible way to die, even for a mouse.
