(Since there is no sub forum for the Improved Navy Colt revolver, I will post them in this area.)

These are the revolvers that started it for me.  I was shopping at the Log Cabin Shop (Lodi, Ohio) and they had these two on display.  They came home with me nearly 40 years ago.  Both were made in 1970 by Uberti and imported into this country by the Replica Arms Company of Marrietta, Ohio.  They are much enjoyed and handled.



Another pair of revolvers that beg for a case in which to reside.

There is also Bills Cases  http://www.billscases.com/ .  He makes reproductions of cases made in the 1850 &1860s.  His work is outstanding

Colts improved the revolver with the addition of better steel (produced by the Bessemer process and marketed by Colts as Silver Steel), the rounding of the barrel and the use of the "creeping" loading lever instead of the toggle and link lever commonly found on pre 1860 revolvers.  These changes were introduced in the 1860 Model and carried to the 36 caliber 1861 a year later. 

The square back triggerguard was one of many options offered by Colts on the revolvers produced by them.  I just happened to find one of each.

The full fluted cylinder was introduced on Colts revolvers as a weight reducing idea.  First found on the Dragoons it was also used on the 1860s and 1861s.  Not many 1860s were made this way as the 44 caliber 1860 had a tendency to burst the full fluted cylinders and many were returned to the factory and replaced with the more common engraved cylinder.

Might have to find a squareback guard for my '61, looks sweet. Hey, ET, you know me on another forum as Lizardo, I have MSND, multiple screen name disorder, lol.

I added this full fluted 1860 to the mix.  I think it makes a nice group.

Thank you.  I like the full fluted revolvers.  Looking for a Dragoon to complete the set.  Not many were made.

Personally, I prefer the half-flute flavor but those are really sweet!

If I remember correctly, the half fluted cylinder was only available on the Pocket Police C&B revolver.  It is a great looking revovler and one of my favorites.
