An Over the Shoulder Colt Holder
« on: February 07, 2014, 09:15:38 PM »
Hi All,

I dabble in leather on occasion and pretty much go where ever my mind wanders.  After watching one too many cowboy shoot'em ups late at night I had an itch to scratch.

I have a second 1851 Colt Navy now, this one in not historically correct .44 caliber, but a second holster for the opposite side would not be too far out of line, especially since I already have the pattern down.

Howdy Cap'n and thanks,

Well, conceal ability was not high on the list when I made it.  The movie involved showed the rig worn on the outside of the characters clothing, it was just another way of carrying the revolvers.  I would hate to think that I would have to resort to Cap and Ball revolvers for personal protection in this day and age.  That said, it is not beyond consideration, I just have several much better choices in my collection of hand guns. As we all know these things were quite capable of dealing out death and destruction on a large scale, the Civil War comes to mind right off the bat.  There were several years in our history when they were considered the technology that was the most advanced and served both sides of the law.  The current powers that be hold these things in contempt as antiques not worthy of greater control is shown by their lack of regulation, but we all know that is not the case.  I would like to let them keep that little notion personally.   L@. :-*
