Broken frame to barrel locator pin on a 51 Navy
« on: September 15, 2018, 01:24:36 PM »
HELP!!!!!!
Got a pretty decent price on a  2nd Gen 51 Navy.  The only problem is that one of the locator (alignment) pin is broken off in the frame.   I've very carefully tried to drill it out but I think the broken part of the pin just spins.  I don't want to enlarge the diameter of the frame hole.  Any bright ideas on how to go about this????  thanks

Hello Pete,

Have you tried a small magnet?
I removed an arbor staking pin one time with one.

Hi Nine, if you can find someone with a spot welder they may be able to weld a narrow rod to the pin where you could pull put the pin.

Maybe you can still run the revolver with it having only one frame pin?

Regards,
Richard

If it is stubborn ... take a small washer (steel) with the hole diameter just smaller then the pin. Weld the washer to the pin [careful not to weld to the frame] . Now after cooling take a bolt and weld it to the washer.

Pull the broken pin out.
