New Member, Inherited Colt Pistols.
« on: June 13, 2019, 07:37:32 AM »
I just inherited several SAA pistols and 1911's.  There was a first Gen, several 2nd Gens and some 3rd Gen SAA's.  One 2nd Gen in particular has a double stamped Colt Emblem.  My father treasured it because he saw it as something special and different.  As difficult as it is, some of the pistols have to be sold to set up a trust fund for grandchildren.  This one could be on the chopping block.  Any idea if this factory spoof helps or hurts the street value?  Thanks for any response.

Hi, Shawn, and welcome to Colt Country! Sorry it took so long to approve your registration but I've been off the grid the last week.
As for your double stamper, just a wild guess on my part, but I'm guessing somebody will find a factory gaffe very desirable. How much, I can't say. Tell us more about the one(s) that might be for sale and show pix (lots!) if possible.

Hi Shawn, great to meet you. Welcome from Wisconsin. Second Gen. Colts have been climbing up in value over the years, I had 2 of them years ago that I sold to a friend. He said he would be shooting them, but he did offer the 1st Mdl. Dragoon back to me for the price he paid. He didn't shoot that one. Yep.....pictures are required!
