Step-By-Step Pictorial Tooling guide
« on: December 01, 2020, 07:21:03 AM »
I ran across this pictorial leather tooling guide while looking for a way to show someone one step in the tooling of a design. It's a great visual guide. For anyone who has never done tooling but wants to give it a try, this is an easy way to see what to do and in what order.

Here's just the guide but you can see it better using the link above to go to the website.

Thanks, Dave. I know when I first started working with leather, I had a book that showed the steps and I followed that closely until I got the hang of it. I taught myself to tool leather and would have struggled without a visual step-by-step guide.

Way back in the 70's I bought a wallet kit from Tandy. That was my first and last attempt at tooling. It didn't come out too bad tho.

That means you started tooling leather 50 years ago.  :-H

Got a photo of it?

More like 42 years ago and the only camera I had back then was an old Polaroid Colorpack II (7+". I'm not even sure you could still get film for it in 78.

Well, there is that. I found an old Polaroid photo I had lying around a few years ago. It had faded quite badly over the years. Even if you had a photo with that, it might not be anything recognizable by now. We'll just have to take your word for it. :)

I wasn't really big into pics back then anyway. If they were kept in a photo album they held up good but if light got to them they faded bad.

I'm like you Hawg.... When I'm working on a project, I don't even think about taking pictures. I do remember once in a while to take one after it's all done. But it's usually just getting to the next one.
