Flap Holster
« on: May 16, 2015, 01:43:19 PM »
Hello - Where can a guy get a good flap holster for an 1851 Navy and/or 1861 Navy?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I got a couple from Cabela’s,  one black US and one tan CS.  Oklahoma Leather has them.  Triple K leather.  I really like the two I have.  Good for hikes and damp weather.

Talk to our own Mike116 (Leathersmith Mike). You won't find a higher quality workmanship anywhere

G Dog - What sixe is the belt cut out?  I checked them out on Cabela's site, even checked user's reviews but couldn't find a mention of the size.  Many Thanks

Shooter -- those work for a two inch belt max,  ...  Good holsters, been using them for many years with 1.5 and 2 inch belts.
+1 on talking to mike116 if ya want a really nice one.

Consider buying from a smaller company, Track of the Wolf, Log Cabin, Possible's Shop.  There are few shops left that cater to our hobby and they are losing out to the box stores.

I order from Track of the Wolf all the time. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I have one I don't use anymore. Would consider selling it for $26.00 shipped. This is the CW military style flap holster; and I think it was made for the '58 Remington. However, my '61 Colt fits in it just fine. Now, this is the CW style that was worn as a cross draw, so would be great for a lefty.....which is why I got it in the first place!

Thanks, G Dog.  Straw Hat, FYI I bought 2 guns from the Possible Shop and a couple slim jim holsters.  They don't have any flaps for sale nowbut I thought they did ini the past. Track of the Wolf has taken at least 5 or 6K of my money over the last decade.  I do like to patronize small stores more than "Box Stores". And I patronize custom craftsmen more than anyone!

Then by all means give Leathersmith Mike a try. He's our resident leathersmith here on Colt Country.

No, sir, my memory is just fine....    ;)
And I would be remiss if I did not mention.....rdstrain builds a very nice holster himself, not sure if he does a flap holster but I'm guessing by his comments he does.... ::)
Here's a nice crossdraw belt holster he did for my stainless ASP Remmy a few years back:
