I think most of us enjoy the smoke and recoil of a bigger bullet and powder charge. I just wondered if there was a particular reason you were liking the .44 over the .36 cal version.

Welp, there's that M1860 grip, for one thing.  I know of little that's  more ergonomic than that.

Don't think that's it because my other .44 caliber is my REB 44 and that is an 1851 grip.

To me, the '60 Army "plow handle" is the best grip out there!

Doc, maybe you just like more 'authority' in a handgun over what a .36 is able to provide.  What loads do you use, respectively in each caliber?

The nature of subjective experience is such that you'll have to tell us what the difference is for you.

Let me be the first to agree that the Navy grip is the cat's pajamas, and pointability is second to none. Let me also lament the fact that the Navy grip is a tad small for my hand, therefore, the Army grip is the winner in my book!

Finally finished these long range targets - 20" x 32" - 1/2" plate steel , intend to use them with my vintage and reproduction 45-70 single shot rifles at 600 yards plus. Still need to figure out hanger frames for them, thinking maybe rebar.

Cool steels, R.  Wackin' gong is a hoot.  600 yds. Is good'n 'Down Range'.  Nice job on those.

Doc, perceived recoil with the same amount of powder but with differing projectile masses and different chamber diameters and differing powder columns presents and interesting question.  (Newton's Third Law notwithstanding.)

Since the powder volume is the same does that mean that overall kinetic energy is too?  I'm inclined to surmise that it ain't quite that straight forward.

Maybe one of our resident engineering boffins can shine a little light on that.

Drove my load of french fries from Wamsutter WY to Palmyra NE.
Bought some raffle tickets for the cutest little colt ever.
Now about to enjoy a Ginger Ale and Vodka, in memory of John Prine, RIP Big guy.

Mississippi to Indiana is a 'fer piece', no wonder you're worn out.  Rest up Hawg, you're energy is needed here.  Best wishes.

11 hours driving. With the stops we made for the dogs, bathroom breaks etc. closer to 13. Then riding around and the wife showing me where she grew up etc, another two. We couldn't check in at the motel until 3 anyway so it all worked out. I'm still wore out but not as bad as yesterday. I finally got around to hooking up the desktops so I'm good to go now. I just dread the trip back home.
