I got this '51 Colt at auction today; a local on-line site. I only saw pictures on the auction site. When I got it home and started to look closely....no way....dare I hope....could it be?! I'm sure hoping!

There are no other stamps anywhere else, no proof marks, date code, etc. The serial number would put it early-mid 1976. So, what do you think??!!

I think you are right. Only problem I have is the lack of Colt's and the serial number on the cylinder. Are the last 4 digits of the serial number on the backstrap and wedge?

I have no history at all about the gun. So, maybe the cylinder is a replacement? Maybe the original owner took the cylinder out for shooting purposes and replaced it with a repro. If so, what make cylinder would fit?

looks like a 2nd gen Colt to me. the cylinder may be from another but my '62' police cylinder is on the face of the cylinder. maybe they are there if you look hard ... has the revolver been fired can you tell?
