When does it stop
« on: January 18, 2016, 02:40:49 PM »
Great forum, started collecting black powder revolvers in July with a uberti walker and it has been downhill since. Next was a pietta 1858 remmie, then Christmas was a awesome, a pietta 1860 and uberti wells fargo. My neighbors here in New Hampshire can smell the black (probably not my range is 1000 ft away). Buying a friend's uberti 1860 in the spring. Can not get enough, now just to convince the wife she needs a couple.

Welcome 603doug,   you might as well admit to yourself that there will be no end to your desires for more.

Okay, so you have an 1847 an 1858, an 1860 and a second one coming soon. How about getting yourself some real revolver, like an 1851 ? If you've not tried it, you've not tried anything. Do yourself a favor and get a Navy ! :-*

Welcome to the forum 603doug.  To answer your question, it doesn't stop.  These are just the Confederate replicas have amassed.  Don't ask about the Colts.

First of all, glad to see you out of the shadows and joining in!
Second; stop? What is "stop"?
All you can really hope for is that you will slow down. One thing that has worked somewhat for me is to run out of safe room. But once you've crossed that line and start stacking boxes on the shelf next to the safe...you're done for (don't ask how I know). The best thing you can do is resign yourself to your fate and begin getting picky and choosy about buying what you REALLY want...this can mean higher prices, hence longer periods between purchases.
Sorry; that's the best I've got.

Hi Doug, welcome from Wisconsin. I am old, so have slowed down in my collecting. I am actually starting to divest myself of some of my guns, but still have all my BP revolvers and most of my long arm BP guns. You, however, are on the up swing of collecting guns. Much luck in the future!

Welcome. It stops when you croak, or when you get old enough for your kids to put you in a rest home and send your firearms to the local cops because they've been drinking the democratic party koolaid.

FLD beat me to part of it... It stops either when you're dead, or broke. Could be dead broke too. &\? :-* 8)

I don't know if it ever stops.  I don't have as many as some on this site but here are just my fluted ones.

A modest collection.  Not a safe queen in the crowd.  They all work really great and are shot regularly.
