Now that I have learned how to embed photos, got out the Cannon and shot this.
Top down :1851 G&G,1851 Brass .44, 1851 Navy , 1851 Navy.

I'm likin them Colts.

Glad to see your collection. Looks nice!

Just snagged a Pietta 1851 Navy steel .36 for $180 from Cabela's plus free shipping (plus sales tax). It arrived Monday October 12. I am in the process of cleaning it and purtying it up (BC Tru-Oil on the wood) and a bit of minor polishing on the brass, and when it is done, with 3 Pietta guns I can post an 1851 Navy Second Model .36, an 1851 Navy Third Model .36 (or Fourth Model, if you choose), a Griswold and Gunnison .36, a Leech and Rigdon .36, a Schneider and Glassick .36, and my favorite fantasy, an 1851 Navy Dragoon Second Model .36 by switching barrels/wedges/cylinders at will.

I will endeavor to get this done soon.

I am now concerned with bracing for a series of storms that will hit us in the next 5-6 days off of the Pacific. It won't be pretty.

Talk at you all later.

Jim

sourdough, hope your not near the coast. I feel bad for our brothers and families in
Florida and North Carolina, flooding got to be very difficult.
Look forward to your photos.

Those folks in the Southeast have got it terribly bad.

We are 25 miles inland so not on the coast. We do, however, get winds here in the Willapa Hills and I have my fingers crossed we don't lose power. The deciduous tree leaves are still on the trees, so there is a greater chance trees will come down on local power lines with the winds which are forecast to be 40-60 MPH. We are prepared with the genset and fuel, but it is always a PITA when it happens. Our main concern is keeping all of our food stores cold (refer/freezer) and having heat (forced-air propane). During heavy winter rains we always have ponding here on the South Prairie, but unless we get 12" or more in the next few days, that is not much of concern insofar as flooding.

Thank you for your concerns, sir!

I am sorry to have hijacked this thread in my reply to Hewy.

I'll see you all when it is over, hopefully with pics. We'll see.

In the meantime, I am working on the new Pietta 1851, until something drastic happens.  K_)

You folks are great.

Yeah, it is pretty obvious by the cylinder length, but during the time frame that the movie took place, how likely is that?

Movies... Not so good.

Far as I'm concerned you didn't hijack anything, this form, in particular, has shown me
we all have developed some friends. Don't get lost in the crowds of onlookers that unfortunately
get criticized for not knowing a specific term or not quite up on historical knowledge etc.
However friends are more eager to help.
I'm interested in your collection and comments, and that extends to your well being.
Stay safe.
As far as movies go they are only as good as the tech advice that is given to actors, and that is the operative word
"actors" True Grit was an entertainig movie.

The revolver carried by the actor appears to be squared off where the grip joins the frame.  Not sure about the triggerguard but it suggests it is also squared off.  At least that is how it appears to me.
