Why oh why?

Hi, when it comes to a BP shooter, I wonder why there is any interest in any other BP model? I have a number of other BP revolver replica revolvers, but none, read NONE, can compare to the accuracy and ability to shoot as the Colt 1851 BP revolver. If you don't have an 1851 you have no idea of what I am talking about. Get smart, go Colt 1851.

First of all, it's good to see you Richard. I've missed your posts.

And secondly, I agree. Get a Navy and shoot it!!

(But the 1860 is still my favorite)

I've long held that the '51 Navy is the most natural pointing firearm I own, and one of the most accurate. My only beef is the smallish grip, which could be fixed by installing an 1860 Army grip and frame.

I have one Dragoon, one Army, and five Navy "type" revolvers (to include my Confederates).

I guess you know where my sympathies lie.

I've always liked the look of the 51 better but I shunned them for many years because of the caliber. Y'all know I'm somewhat of a purist so a .44 1851 was out of the question. I did finally get one to use as a wall hanger but the thing felt so good I had to shoot it at least once. Once I did it became my fovorite. I even like the small grip a lot better than the 1860.

Hmmmm, I guess I should get mine out to verify those claims. I have large hands and now they are getting quite stiff from arthritis.

The title of this post sounds like an Elvis Presley song... 
Having said that,  I have to say I have four 1851’s.  The Colts are my favorites.     The other two are great runner ups.
For me,  the only other natural pointing handgun is my Colt Government Model.

I've got more 1851 Navies than any other model made by Colt.  There are 6 that I alternate shooting in SASS matches. Then there are the unfired collectors models.  The only thing that compares are the 1861 improved Navies

No flames here either Richard! I really like my second gen Colt 51 now that it wears a 60 frame n strap. The best feeling 51 tho is a Pietta that I removed the grip duck bill on. That bugger fits better then any of the others in my large hands. Seems funny that less grip does better in my 1860 style hands.

The 51 navy in 36 cal does very well with non traditional bullets. It gets close to 9mm power and speaks just loud enough. My 61's are favorites but for that traditionalist feel and look ... give me the 51 navy anytime.

Shot the antique .36 Navy today. Two cap jams. To clear the second one, had to dismantle the whole thing. But, apart from the inherent cap sucking, the Colt is rather nice to shoot, but I wouldn't trust it in a tight spot.
