I like that too Richard. Do you like carrying it? Is it comfortable to carry?

The reason I ask is, I've been thinking of abandoning my S&W Shield .40 for a small frame revolver.

Hi Kirk, if outside New York City, a permit holder is allowed to carry.

Richard

Hi Dave, I sometimes forget I have it in a pocket when going inside the USPS post office. I like .45 ACPs, but they are much larger. I always prefer a revolver over an auto, the revolver always works the first time needed. The 38 Special P+ is not as effective as the larger .45 ACP, but carry convenience always wins.

Regards,
Richard

Your reasons are exactly why I am considering it. Thanks for the feedback.

Richard, that is a very concealable piece. I am not sure about the Crimson Trace grips, as that is something else that may fail when needed, IMO.

Mine is a bit larger: Ruger SP101 .38 Spl. 3" barrel. Bought it new in 1989 and reamed out the chambers for Remington .357 Mag 125 gr. JHP ammo (the longest cartridge that will fit). This was before Ruger started making the SP101 .357 mag with the longer cylinder and frame. I installed the Hogue Monogrip and a spring kit from Wolff which worked magic on it. It fits inside the waistband very well.

Regards,

Jim

Hi Jim, those Crimson Trace grips are very necessary, but not necessary for the laser. The original grips were wood with the backstrap exposed. The recoil using +P ammo is very sharp in such a light revolver and would paralyze my hand after the first shot where I couldn't pull the trigger again for many seconds later. The Crimson Trace grips have a bit of rubber that covers the backstrap. That little bit of rubber made all the difference, no more paralyzed hand.

BTW, if necessary I can use the open sights for <25 shots. The laser allows accurate shooting to 50+yds. However, any serious need will occur at just a couple of yards where simple pointing is sufficient.

Regards,
Richard

That's a great picture Richard. Looks like all the bases are covered except one. You need a Root.
