My wife and I took. A trip to Branson, MO.  There is an old time   Dick’s 5and10 store filled with all sorts of tourist souvenirs.  I found the old time role caps made in Germany.  I hope to use them as cap primer charge.  After assembling a couple of the cap.  They functioned but were weak.  I hope to report success in a few days.

Neat! Have you tried the Kilgore brand of roll caps? Supposed to be the hottest from what I hear.

I didn't find any on Amazon. Ebay has vintage empty boxes starting at 3.95.

As I remember “Tap-O Cap” recommended paper role caps to prime there caps.  They were in business for years.
I’ll try these in my homemade percussion caps.  Will report the results

Those are made in Germany. AFAIK know they're the best you can get. The Chinese caps are weak. I  played around with plastic strip caps but had to add two dots from legends caps and they still weren't 100% reliable.

These I bought cost $6.99 a package of 2400.   If four spots will work that’s 600 caps per package. That’s $0.011 per cap ,  $1.10 per 100.  Add your time and metal foil or aluminum can material.

I got around to making a few #10 caps with roll caps as priming charge.  I got from the craft store two hole punches to experiment.  I got a 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch punch. Neither is perfect and less effective than the old stash of red ring caps which never need to fail if constructed carefully.  It takes at least 4 caps to produce a strong enough charge. It is a tedious process as the punched out caps are small, hard to handle. Tweezers will work as tool to manage the caps and a bamboo scerer . One of those plastic Large rifle primer trays will serve to hold your cap cups. The1/4 inch caps work best if you center them in the cup. I’ll keep reporting.

Thanks to all of you for reading and replying to this thread. I’m continuing to produce caps about 25 at a time and working with the roll caps.

Thank you DragoonRick. It does sound a bit tedious as you say. Look forward to hearing more about this. I hope success abounds :happy-thumbs-up-050:
