A Second Holster A Year Later
« on: April 19, 2022, 10:53:26 AM »
I made a cross draw holster to match one made last year. The dye is the same but the holster came from a different side of leather so the color is close but not exact. It came out fine and the shooter's pleased with it.

Thank you. Leather working can be a lot of fun. Like when you can't decide whether to buy another pistol or not. You think, "But then I'll have to make a holster for it" and that pushes the decision to go ahead with the purchase.  (7+"

Awesome work as always Robert! Sometimes less is more. And no one does it better than you. I've been in a slump lately. Gotta get myself motivated again.

Thanks, Dave.

Order another side of leather. Then you'll get motivated either because you have all this cool leather on hand or because you feel guilty about it lying around.  :happy0008:

I don't know how many of you might be interested in the stamps that I used on these holsters but on the forum I moderate, there was some. I'll post the links I did there in this thread.

Here's my practice piece to show the detail of the border.

The stamps are Hackbarth Palm stamps. Here's a link to the website for Hackbarth but the best thing to do if you want to order is call Lonnie who took over after Ellis Barnes passed away. He's semi-retired so it's best to call and talk to him about availability. His number is (520) 642-3891. The website hasn't been updated for quite a few years. These stamps are as well made as any you'll ever find anywhere.

There is a Chinese listing of copies of them on ebay for 1/3 the cost but the quality is your guess. I personally would pay the price for the real stamps but that's up to you.

There is another alternative on ebay from a Bulgarian company. The stamps are not the same but they are an alternative to the palm stamps. They're a little more than the Chinese ones but I might be tempted to trust the quality more.
