Hi, finally got around to painting my new turkey steel target white. This steel target already came painted black, but I like white for my steel targets. As soon as the paint is completely dry the turkey gets put on my steel target backstop. The turkey:

Hi, ordered a new steel bear target for my steel target range:

There will now be enough animal targets to open a petting zoo.  )l_ )l_

I concur. And I think you should change the name of this thread from "My Range" to "BP Zoo"... (7+"

Steel menagerie.

Whackin some gong is always very cathartic.  I use an 8” circular and a decommissioned fry pan.

Hi, ordered a new cowboy AR500 steel target for my steel target range:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/AR500-Steel-12-x-20-x-1-2-Cowboy-Action-Shooting-Silhouette-CAS-Pistol-Target/233344109372?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Being 1/2" steel it will be good for rifle fire.

Regards,
Richard

I have been looking at some of those cut-out gongs on eBay. So far, my only gongs are a length of heavy wall 6" diameter pipe and an 8" disc 1/2" thick. A few years ago I bought a pack of cardboard reduced scale silhouette animal targets. I used one card as a pattern for cutting out a set of steel targets. These are for 22 caliber only. I haven't tried one for small caliber handguns, it might be they would stand up to them.

Hi, I ordered a new AR500 steel 14" gong for the backyard target setup:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/One-AR500-Steel-Target-Gong-1-2-x-14-Painted-Black-Shooting-Practice-Range/332562525839?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

One can hit this target with rifles with no target damage from my deck. As my eyes get older, the targets must become larger.  ;) ;)

Richard

Have you recovered any lead under your steel targets?

Hi Emery, no because there is not much lead under the steel targets. Most of the projectiles break up into small pieces that are thrown 360 degrees parallel to the target face.

The new cowboy AR500 steel target arrived yesterday, was painted white, and is now mounted to my backyard backstop.

Richard
