A few Paterson Revolvers and Long Arms were used in the Seminole Wars in Florida in the 1830's. Matter of fact, Sam Colt made one or more trips to Florida to sell some of his repeating arms to soldiers there.
Not familiar with the Seminole Wars in Florida? That is Hollywood's fault.
More U.S. Army soldiers died in the Seminole Wars than ALL the Indian Wars West of the Mississippi River!!! Of course, while the Seminoles did manage to kill some soldiers, the great killer in Florida was diseases like Yellow Fever, etc.,
Everyone has heard of "Custer's Last Stand" but very few have heard of "The Dade Massacre" in Florida. Like Custer, it was a U.S. Army command that was massacred by the Indians. That Massacre occurred two months BEFORE the Alamo.

Too bad Dade's Command was equipped with U.S. M1816, .69 Caliber Flintlock, Smoothbore Muskets instead of Colt Paterson repeating rifles. The battle might have turned our very differently.
The Seminoles had rifles (lead and powder) supplied to them by the U.S. Government for "hunting" purposes. So, the Seminoles had a "technological advantage" over the soldiers because they had rifles, and could remain "out of range" of the smoothbore muskets while picking the soldiers off with rifles.
